Genus of succulent plants in the Montiaceae family, endemic to western North America. Their brightly colored flowers and succulent leaf rosettes make them plants of great ornamental value for alpine and rock gardens. They are high mountain plants of the Pacific Cordillera, adapted to well-drained stony soils and climates with long snow seasons.
