Genus of succulents in the Asphodelaceae family, related to Aloe and established by P.V. Heath to group certain haworthioid-looking species from Madagascar. They are small to medium-sized rosette plants with translucent fleshy leaves, adapted to the shaded understory of Madagascar.

Distribution Madagascar; shaded forests and understory of the island, especially in the wetter regions.
Conservation Madagascar species are especially vulnerable due to the accelerated loss of forest habitat on the island.
